Waitress Serving on the Pere Marquette (editor's title)

Waitress serving in dining car.
A publicity photograph of new dining car service on the Pere Marquette Railroad (later Chesapeake & Ohio). The line experimented with women servers and a no-tip policy on the Detroit-Lansing-Grand Rapids streamliner Pere Marquette. The female "waiters" were soon discontinued. The server stands on the left, handing a salad to a seated male passenger, whose companion sits on the right.
