Builder's photo showing the rear-end view of Union Pacific dome-observation car #9002, used on the City of Los Angeles streamliner between Chicago and LA. In the years immediately following World War II, UP expanded its already popular "City" streamliner fleet to provide daily operation on all existing routes. The railroad purchased many new cars from both Pullman-Standard and American Car & Foundry. The 9002 was one of 15 lounge cars built by ACF using steel-aluminum construction. It was later rebuilt for midtrain operation. The photo was featured on p. 196 of Some Classic Trains by Arthur Dubin (Kalmbach, 1964).
