Norfolk Southern started its 21st Century Steam program in 2011 with 12-mile round trip excursions from Tennessee Valley Railroad Museumís Grand Junction Station, over NSís main-line track and along NS's DeButts rail yard to downtown Chattanooga. The trains were turned at CT wye behind the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel before returning to Grand Junction. No. 630, TVRMís recently-restored, ex-Southern Railway 2-8-0 steam locomotive, pulled the trains. American Locomotive Company (Richmond Works) built no. 630 for the Southern Railway in 1904. The photo shows no. 630 approaching the downtown wye on September 2, 2011, with the first train, operated for railroad officials and civic leaders. Locomotive 4501 used the same wye leaving Chattanooga in 1966.
