Locomotive 4501 Climbing Duncan Hill in Indiana (editor's title)

Seam locomotive 4501 climbing grade
After crossing the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky, to New Albany, Indiana, the Southern Railway 1966 excursion train climbed out of the river valley on a four-mile grade as steep as 2.8 percent. Here, the train with locomotive 4501 is about to enter 4,295-foot Duncan Tunnel, the top of the grade. Unseen in the trees and smoke, a diesel helps. The locomotive with seven crowded passenger cars operated public trips between New Albany and Corydon Junction in Indiana for two days.
