Snow Freight in Wisconsin (editor's title)

A Wisconsin & Southern freight train slowly heads into Stoughton, Wisconsin, on February 6, 2008, during one of the worst days of a hard winter season in southern Wisconsin. WSOR's red-and-white locomotive with its lights beaming adds color to a nearly all-white scene on a day when white-outs were common. Maintenance crews came to work at 4 a.m. to keep the regional railroad in operation. By the time the snowfall ended on February 7, 2008, the snowfall since December 1, 2007, stood at 73.7 inches, only 2.4 inches away from the record of 76.1 inches set in 1978-79, which was well exceeded by the end of the season.
