A colorful image of a Burlington Northern Railroad freight train in St. Paul. The popular vantage point is the Jackson Street overpass in St. Paul and the large grain elevator in the background is a Minneapolis landmark—the principal grain-handling city of the two twins. The view dates from after 1970, the year of the four-way merger that created the Burlington Northern. The Jackson Street overpass is still a good photo location. Directly to the south of the diesel and just out of sight at the right of this photo is the existing Minnesota Transportation Museum Jackson Street Roundhouse and railroad collection. The rear of this train is just leaving the Westminster wye area, also a great photo location back then and presently. The track in the picture is former Great Northern tracks.
