Waiting for Repairs Near Augusta, Georgia (editor's title)

Atlantic Coast Line
The Atlantic Coast Line's morning train from Florence, South Carolina, about a mile from the Augusta station. The African-American work gang may be replacing a tie, while supervised by a white foreman. McClellan says tht he is "sorry now that I did not take more pictures or people at the time, but film was expensive when you are in high school (I had just graduated when these were taken)." The streamliner, noted for on-time performance, was assuredly late that day, but the tardiness gave McClellan a great opportunity.
