President and Mrs. Nixon boarding Metroliner
President and Mrs. Nixon boarding a Penn Central Metroliner in Washington, D.C., Union Station on January 24, 1970. The couple was traveling to Philadelphia for a concert marking the 113th anniversary of the Philadelphia Academy of Music. It was the first time in nearly eight years that a president had traveled by train, aside from campaigning or ceremonies.

Kennedy went from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia to attend the Army-Navy game in 1962. UPI
